Epping Upper Clapton RFC -Covid update 29th October 2021

Paul Donnelly29 Oct 2021 - 17:35

For the last 20 months we have not had a single incidence of Covid within our rugby environment. However that has now changed

The unfortunate news is that two of the senior men’s team players have received positive Covid results from PCR testing this week, the 1st team & 2nd Team matches on Saturday have been postponed.
In addition, as a precaution, it has been recommended that all players that attended training on Tuesday of this week self-monitor and arrange to have a PCR test carried out via the NHS, this is due to the high potential risk associated with close contact training involved and the risk of spreading the virus amongst team members.
This should not affect any of the youth or mini games and training this weekend if family members are not associated with and have not had close contact with senior players.
The decision has been made for all club member safety, that if you have a family member /partner who is in the senior team who attended training on Tuesday and you would have attend the club for additional reasons, such as Ladies teams, children in youth/mini teams etc – we ask that you do not attend the club this weekend to reduce the risk of potential spread of the virus.
The decision has also been made to cancel this weekend’s MONSTER BALL function as we cannot guarantee peoples safety in relation to Covid due to the potential close proximity people will be placed in, including bar staff.
At all times the health and well being of all our members is our priority and we must take the safety of all first.
Do remember that even though a number of our members are vaccinated we can still contract Covid and pass it to others.
Yours in Rugby
Paul Donnelly
Club Chairman
